Seamus 2005 comes to the 'crossroads of America' for its 2005 National Conference. The conference will take place at Ball State University in Muncie,Indiana, April 14-16, 2005. Full story, click here

Innova Recordings has received a grant from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music Recording Program for recording the music of Barry Schrader. The award is for the release of two CDs of Schrader's Music on the Innova label: The first CD, produced by renowned film composer Gary Chang, willl feature Schraders older analog electro-acoustic music including Trinity and Lost Atlantis and is slated for release in the fall of 2004. The second CD consists of Schrader's newer live/electro-acoustic music works featuring the recently-premiered Ravel for piano and electro-acoustic music
Schrader's most recent CD, "EAM", also recorded on Innova, was featured on an ASCAP audio portrait .
The Aaron Copland Recording Program and Performing Ensembles Program are administered by the American Music Center (AMC), a national service and information center for new American music. For the official announcement of all 2004 Recording Program Grant recipients, click here

Will Rice has announced that he will be stepping down as editor of the Journal SEAMUS. On behalf of the SEAMUS Board of Directors, and all of our membership, I would like to express our profound gratitude to Will for the outstanding job he has done as editor since 1998. Under his guidance, the Journal SEAMUS went from being an ad hoc collection of submissions by members to being a formal, juried journal whose content has improved with every issue. It has also acquired a new, much more professional appearance and layout. Will has put a tremendous amount of hard work and creative thought into this job for the past six years, and we have all benefited greatly from those efforts, as well as from his contributions as a member of the Board of Directors. I have asked Will to stay on temporarily, until such time as we have found a new editor for the Journal, and he has agreed. But it is now time to search for his replacement, which brings me to the
following announcement:
The SEAMUS Board of Directors is inviting applications for the position of Editor in Chief of the Journal SEAMUS. The Journal Editor is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the SEAMUS Board of Directors. Responsibilities include:
1. Solicit materials for publication from the SEAMUS membership and other parts of the international electroacoustic music community.
2. Recruit and organize readers for the journal jury.
3. Enlist members to review books, DVDs and CDs.
4. Edit submissions for clarity and style, establishing a consistency of voice for the journal.
5. Oversee layout, printing, and mailing of each edition of journal.
6. Maintain an archive of back issues.
7. Answer inquiries from libraries and publishing distribution houses.
8. Serve on SEAMUS Board of Directors.
