We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Lawrence Fritts has agreed to serve as our first Director of Conferences. Full Story below

In their first collaborative effort in 31 years under the auspices of Fripp & Eno, prog-rock guitar virtuoso Robert Fripp and ambient pioneer Brian Eno have released an album of new music entitled The Equatorial Stars on the Discipline Global Mobile and Opal labels

The Equatorial Stars is preceeded by the legendary No Pussyfooting (1973) and Evening Star (1975) albums, the former considered by many as the first use of loops and ambiental techniques in popular music.

Larry Fritts named SEAMUS Director of Conferences

Larry is an Associate Professor of Composition at the University of Iowa, where he directs the electronic music studios. As many of you know, he also directed a terrific SEAMUSconference at Iowa in 2002, so he brings a wealth of experience to this important job.

He will also chair a subcommittee whose mission is to study the results of our recent member survey, solicit input from past conference directors, and use that information to revise and update our conference handbook. I believe that Larry is an outstanding choice for this position and a great addition to our Board of Directors. Please join me in congratulating him and welcoming him to this important responsibility.ubmission deadline for all materials for the 2005 Conference has been set for FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1ST, 2005.

Will Rice has announced that he will be stepping down as editor of the Journal SEAMUS. On behalf of the SEAMUS Board of Directors, and all of our membership, I would like to express our profound gratitude to Will for the outstanding job he has done as editor since 1998. Under his guidance, the Journal SEAMUS went from being an ad hoc collection of submissions by members to being a formal, juried journal whose content has improved with every issue. It has also acquired a new, much more professional appearance and layout. Will has put a tremendous amount of hard work and creative thought into this job for the past six years, and we have all benefited greatly from those efforts, as well as from his contributions as a member of the Board of Directors. I have asked Will to stay on temporarily, until such time as we have found a new editor for the Journal, and he has agreed. But it is now time to search for his replacement, which brings me to the
